Academics and Curriculum

At Lee County Pre-K, instruction is guided by the Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards (GELDS). These standards serve as the foundation for everything we teach and are thoughtfully aligned with Georgia’s Kindergarten Standards and the Work Sampling System, which we use to monitor student progress. This alignment helps ensure a smooth, supportive transition from Pre-K to Kindergarten.

To strengthen and support the GELDS, we use the Benchmark Ready to Advance Curriculum. This curriculum provides engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote growth in social, emotional, and academic areas.

Families who would like to learn more about the GELDS and how they support early learning can visit:

PreKStudents

Our classrooms are designed to support all areas of development. Each class includes a variety of child-accessible materials such as books, math manipulatives, blocks, dramatic play items, science exploration tools, writing materials, and musical instruments. Learning spaces are arranged to support individual, small group, and whole group instruction.

Students also benefit from an outdoor play area equipped for developing large motor skills, balance, and coordination. In addition, a daily one-hour rest period is provided to support children’s overall well-being.
